It was difficult for us to get to sleep last night, but not from anxiety…just from reflecting on the events of the day and the amazing way in which our family has been blessed and how God has worked throughout our lives. When we welcomed our baby boy at Baylor hospital 42 years ago, we never envisioned that we would be returning for a kidney transplant some day! No one plans for such an event — and yet God has been bringing people into our lives who impacted this moment in a profound way.
We want to express once again our endless and boundless appreciation to Keith and his precious wife, Kate, for their gift of life. We know that it was a family decision. Our appreciation, also, to Keith’s parents, who supported his decision. As parents, we know how difficult that must have been.
We have always known that Scott’s wife, Sheila, was a special, special girl….but during this process, she has demonstrated her faith and strength in an incredible way as she supported Scott.
We are grateful for the doctors at home who immediately took special interest in Scott and monitored his health, making timely decisions and making sure he was directed to the right sources of help.
Finally, we are eternally grateful to all the dozens of family members and friends who gathered with us yesterday in support. What a blessing you were! As we reflected on each of you, we remembered on all the ways in which you have enriched our lives and before we fell asleep, we thanked God for each of you.
Finally, we want to say how proud we were and are of our two precious granddaughters who calmly and quietly waited throughout the day for the results of their Dad’s surgery. They already demonstrate a strength of faith from their parents.
Our love to all. Kay and Don Skelton

Don and Kay – So very happy for Scott and Sheila that the surgery was such a success and I am amazed that Keith is already out of the hospital and home. Being able to read this blog and share the journey has been a blessing and such a testament to the faith of all of you — especially the young daughters. Looking forward to seeing you both soon — prayers are still with Scott’s complete recovery and peace and comfort for the rest of the family.
    Love you all, Che Che
